Golf Course Road Trail Connection

The City of Monticello is constructing a trail along Golf Course Road (CSAH 39) from Elm Street to 7th Street. The trail will connect to the sidewalk at Elm street and to the trail being installed on 7th street. The trail on 7th street is being installed as part of the Country Club 2nd addition plat.

The City is coordinating this work with Wright County's pavement preservation project along the same stretch of roadway to reduce separate project impacts for residents and businesses.

Project Background

In 2023, the City of Monticello applied for a Transportation Alternatives grant through MNDOT to install a 10’ wide bituminous trail from Elm Street to 7th Street. The grant application was successful and the City received $800,000 towards the construction of the trail. The eastern portion of this trail was identified as a high priority in the 2019 Safe Routes to School plan
