City Council Highlights January 12, 2026

The City Council held a regular meeting on Monday, January 12. Here are the highlights:

  • City Appointments for 2026: Annual appointments to committees and organizations were approved, ensuring community interests are represented in regional initiatives. Council Liaisons were also appointed to boards to act as a direct link between the Council and each group.
  • Monticello Library Improvements: The City Council approved plans and bidding for improvements at the Monticello Public Library, including ADA and parking lot improvements. A $500,000 state grant will fully fund the project. Work will be done in sections over an estimated 21 days, with completion targeted for August 2026. The Monticello Farmers Market will be temporarily relocated nearby.
  • Review of Land Use Guidance for Proposed Scannell Properties, LLC, Data Center site: The City Council requested a staff analysis and public hearing on potential land use changes for parcels guided as Light Industrial Park site near the Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park. City Council Highlights November 24, 2025

The City Council held a regular meeting on Monday, November 24. Here are the highlights:

  • Get Ready to Glow: MontiArts has successfully secured a $9,000 grant from the Central Minnesota Arts Board to help fund GlowFest 2026.
  • New Speed Limits: Some of Monticello’s city-owned roadways will have speed limits adjusted in the coming months. Check out the highlights for a list of changes and a map. As a reminder, the City does not have jurisdiction over Wright County or MnDOT roadways (this includes County Road 75/Broadway Street, I-94, and TH 25).
  • BCOL Regional Athletic Park: Additional design services were approved to ensure the Pickleball Courts project fit seamlessly into the park’s long-term master plan. This includes parking lot integration, stormwater management, additional grading, and an updated topographical survey.

City Council Highlights November 10, 2025

The City Council held a regular meeting on Monday, November 10. Here are the highlights:

  • Winter Coat Drive: Ends Saturday, November 15! Donate new or clean, like-new coats and winter accessories at City Hall, the DMV, Hi-Way Liquors, or the MCC.
  • Snowplowing & Ice Removal Policy: City Council approved the annual Snowplowing & Ice Removal Policy for 2025-2026. Reminder: winter parking restrictions are in effect through April 1 (1  -6 a.m. no street parking or during snow events).
  • Monticello Industrial (Monticello Tech) Draft AUAR: The Draft AUAR for the proposed 550-acre technology campus is open for public comment starting November 18 through December 18, 4 p.m. Join the AUAR Open House on November 20 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the MCC to learn more about the study.
