2026 Candidate Filing

There are three City Council seats up for election, the Mayor and 2 Council Members. The term for Mayor is two years and City Council is four years. These local positions will be on the ballot at the General Election on November 3, 2026

Filing opens at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, and closes at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.  A candidate has until 5 p.m. July 30 to file an Affidavit of Withdrawal if they no longer want to run.   

Candidates file at City Hall with the City Clerk during regular business hours (Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and until 5 p.m. on July 28, 2026. Candidates would complete an Affidavit of Candidacy and pay a $5 fee to file.                                         

Eligibility to Hold Office

• The candidate must be an eligible voter.
• Is, or will be on assuming office, 21 years of age or more.
• Maintained residence in the district wherein they reside 30 days previous to the election.

Candidates are required to file campaign financial reports according to Minnesota Statutes 211A.
